Baking Disasters and Kitchen Crisis…

Now I know I haven’t posted much recently and you might think “Oh maybe she’s busy” well….no. Here’s the honest truth. I’ve been baking, a lot. But I’ve had baking disaster after disaster! I know I probably shouldn’t be telling you this but guess what? Not everything I make works! I kind of think its good to share this once in a while! I like to try recipes and find great ones that I can pass onto my subscribers but if things don’t go to plan I tend to leave them off my blog. I don’t want someone else to have a nightmare bake too!

SO here’s the gory truth in pictures!

Disaster 1: SnickerdoodlesP1020150

I had never made these biscuits before but decided to give them a go. First off the dough was SOOO soft. More like cake batter but all my quantities were correct! What’s that all about! I baked them and they spread into one GIANT cookie on the baking tray…erm guessing that was wrong too, and just to top it off they sank when I took them out of the oven. After salvaging them as best as I could (see the pictures below!) I settled on the sofa with a cup of tea and bit into a biscuit. It was the sweetest thing I’d ever eaten!!!! Think, eating spoonfuls of granulated sugar with cinnamon, it wasn’t nice. (On the other hand my Dad wolfed down the lot of them so each to their own!)

Disaster 2: Nutella Cookies

What’s not to like? Rich chocolate spread in a soft tasty cookie? YUM! Ermmmm no. A simple recipe with four ingredients sounded like a dream. It wasn’t. Again the mix was crazily wet so I added some extra flour so I could actually get it onto the tray! Got them in the oven and them went huge flat and thin! They also stuck to the tray despite the recipe specifically saying not to grease it! Disaster! They also kind of tasted like butter. Not sure why….

Disaster 3: Blueberry and Lemon Tray Bake

The least offensive of the disasters this one was entirely my fault. I decided to guess the size of my cake tin. “That looks about 25 x 20cm :)” my brain said….It wasn’t. Consequently I had a ridiculously thick cake that didn’t bake properly in the centre. Not nice!

I know I didn’t have to post these but I know everyone tries recipes that go wrong and if you’re afraid of baking thinking that you’ll make a mistake? DONT PANIC! Everyone does it! Myself included! If all else fails, try, try again! Also if anyone has successful recipes for any of my disasters let me know by commenting below! Or just leave a comment about your baking disasters to make everyone feel a bit better! 😉

I have had so many kitchen disasters! And it kills me to have to throw food away. And you are right, you just have to keep trying again.I am not sure what went wrong with your recipes. Could they be incorrect recipes? Sometimes that does happen. A part of the recipe could be missing?

I don’t think so! I used recipes from reputable blogs and I even bought a cup measure so I didnt have to change the measurements! Its so frustrating! I think I’m just going to go with the idea that if the recipe seems too simple it probably is! Hehe
